This Motion Sensor device clearly looks to be an inexpensive and easy-to-install option for homeowners looking for a hands-free light fixture. The concept behind the product is that it will quickly and easily transform an ordinary light socket into a motion sensing device. A great option for basements, old attics, large closets, garages and other locations where a light switch might be hard to reach. The sensor offers a complete 360-degree line of sight and will detect a person or animal up to twelve feet with about an eight foot install height. The sensor does not have a photocell, so with any movement the light will turn on.
The best place to install these would be low light conditions and not near any windows with direct light coming through. Currently, the product does not work with the new compact fluorescent lights (low energy bulb) and the bulb that it is installed with should be a 25 watt minimum. Having these around the home can be a effective and cheap upgrade to your home. Plus, it is always nice to know that the lights will shut off on their own and the you don’t have rely on the kids to remember to shut them off!

Get The Scoop On The First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket
Customer reviews are a great way to research a product and find out if it truly delivers. Here are a few reviews from owners of the First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket.
I ordered two of these for my garages, since there aren’t easily accessible light switches from all entrances. At first, one of them wouldn’t pick me up when entering from this one door, but I rotated the fixture by about 10 degrees and then it was fine; so there is a blind spot. I am loving them, especially when I enter the garage holding stuff, light just goes on automatically, immediately. The range appears to be great too, as I can enter from one corner of the garage and the sensor on the other side of the garage at 30 feet from where I step in it will activate.
The First Alert PIR720R was exactly what I needed for a garage light. The sensor works great and I no longer have to fumble in the dark to find the light switch. It’s great for safety and security reasons e.g. when pulling the car into the garage I now have automatic lighting. The product saves money in two ways. It automatically shuts off after a minute and I didn’t have to hire an electrician to rewire the simple light fixture for an “outside” sensor.
